"Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning"
We had another fast-paced yet WONDERFUL week. We are all sick. Hacking, coughing and sneezing. So make sure your kiddo stays home if he/she has a fever. Otherwise, we've now got PLENTY of tissue and hand sanitizer!
Parents: I still have some students that have not turned in the blue permission form for our Mariposa trip. I need it by Thursday or they will have to stay at school in a host classroom for the day. I also need 2 more parent volunteers. We will be on a charter bus AND it is forecasted to rain....so be aware!
This week we wrapped up Colonization and began our Gold Rush simulation. We have 6 awesome mining teams and every team was able to stake a claim today. Next week we will have an actual mining round. The winning team of the simulation will be eating a pizza lunch with me!
Don't forget! Feb. 27th is Fourth Grade's planning day. So it will be room 19's first time with a substitute teacher. He has worked at Manchester many times and is a great and capable teacher. I know my KindMinds will be amazing with him!
KindMinds did a great job on their Chapter 8 test and Monday we move on to decimals! The class is loving our Skills quizzes which are scanned and automatically graded. Make sure you have them teach you about this handy bit of technology in Rm. 19
I STILL have students with zeros who have not come to request work. Please check ATLAS with your kiddo and encourage him/her to request and submit all late work ASAP.
We've got a long stretch until Spring Break. So let's buckle in!
Parent Homework: 1. Review the contents of your child's Green folder and empty it. I noticed Many folders with last week's work still inside. 2. Check your child’s agenda every day and sign~about 8 students had detention on Thursday because of unsigned Agendas....
Reading: Monday we begin "By the Great Horn Spoon" to accompany our study of the California Gold Rush. If you can pick your student up a copy, they would greatly appreciate it! They love having their own copy to read and annotate!
